The Little Gardeners Series

My lifelong passion for horticulture and art inspired “The Little Gardeners” series for children. Each book delivers a lesson or message, and a journey that children can learn from. In this series, I have endeavored to captivate and entertain the reader, as well as the listener. The characters are among those I have encountered in my gardens, those I have had as pets over many years, and some are merely imaginary.

“Peep” is an ancient little bluebird. He is the main character in this series, cultivated from my childhood. Peep is the essential host who engages with the other characters to educate and entertain the audience. He is a problem solver and a teacher, dedicated to educating the audience about fun outdoor activities, environmental issues, good values, and friendship among all living creatures.

I created the entire series, and completed all of the illustrations in pen and watercolor. I truly hope that you and your children will be entertained, and educated, by Peep and all of his friends. – Carol Hopkins

A Gardeners Story

          Coming Soon!   The Groundskeeper Revisited

Everyone has a life story to tell, and everyone has dreams they hope to achieve.  With all of the technology we have today, we no longer have many picture albums lying around, or diaries for our children or grandchildren to look back on.  Many generations wonder how their grandparents shared their lives and what their dreams were. I was not fortunate enough to know my grandparents well. But I want to make sure my grandchildren know me. I am proud of all my accomplishments through my life, and I want to pass these on to them. This book is one way I am doing that, but it’s also meant to be an inspiration to others as well. It tells how persistence and hard work will get you to where you want to go.

Carol, an avid gardener, revisits some of the experiences throughout her life that shaped her into who she is today. You will be entertained and inspired by the challenges she faced to make her dreams a reality and get her to where she always wanted to be. If you enjoy a good laugh, gardening, nature, and working outdoors you are sure to enjoy this collection. No matter what your dreams are, these stories of hope and persistence will inspire you to keep reaching until you achieve your dreams as well.

About My Characters

I thought It would be fun to post about my characters created in The Little Gardeners series.

Most all of my characters in my children’s books are related to people that inspired me or animals and pets I have interacted with.

Meet Bob,

This is our little Bob who had a rough life. Bob lost his tail to a cat chase. Soon to be a weak squirrel he was bullied by others. My husband and I tried making the best for him with ample water and nuts. Bob came to me Christmas day of last year to say a final goodbye. You are missed, my little friend.
